Love was, is and will be in the place where sometimes doors are closed. Peru is one of five countries in South America that has no legislation recognising same-sex marriages dueto the prejudices that its religious and governmental institutions have towards the LGBTQ+ community. To challenge the hypocrisy of these prejudices, Havas Peru created something that nobody could deny, something that came from inside the institutions that closed their doors to equal love. Within every church and temple, one can find the colours of the LGBTQ+ flag, in each of its stained-glass windows, where many depictions of love are represented. The team at Havas Peru photographed these stained-glass windows when the sun is at its brightest, achieving a light effect that amplified each of the colours inside. Let’s put it this way: a divine message. The campaign was launched during LGBTQ+ Pride Month, placing the message on a series of billboards located in front of or near the main temples and churches. This was accompanied by a direct marketing action, using the images to create religious postcards that were placed within these churches and temples, in addition to being delivered outside the houses of worship themselves. This is how they delivered a message of love and pride, generating news and sparking a conversation that reached Congress, which will once again open the debate on same-sex marriage in Peru. DARE!
